Coinbase will add a few more cryptocurrencies over the coming years. The only question is which those will be and when the addition happens. Right now, the Ripple community hopes to get XRP listed on this platform. To do so, they started a petition on Change.org. Such campaigns will hardly ever work, though, but it shows an interesting sentiment regardless. Given the number of people already signing the petition, there may be some success in the long run.

More specifically, the company is looking to hire additional engineers to make this happen. It will require a lot of effort to support other currencies. Giving developers an option to contribute is a smart idea. However, the company should focus on the top cryptocurrencies automatically, rather than wait for help. There are some currencies which clearly need more fiat currency gateways right now.
